AUTISTIC WOMEN, DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL? – YouTube
I’m so excited! I signed a contract with Future Horizons, Inc. to write my next book, coming out in 2022. The working title is, Recognizing Autism in Women and Girls: Behind the Mask. This is a topic near and dear to my heart.
Many women find it difficult to get a proper diagnosis. They may have masked their autistic characteristics since childhood, and now they are tired of wearing the mask. But how can you get a diagnosis when everyone thinks that since you make eye contact, you can’t be autistic? It is a dilemma, and one that I’d like to see change. That’s why I’m writing this book, to help professionals understand how autism presents differently in girls and women.
As always, I will include brief stories, anecdotes, or paragraphs written by actually autistic women throughout the book. This is where you come in. If you are interested in being a contributor, send me an email telling me you’d like to share your story, at author@wendelawhitcombmarsh.com. I’ll send you a form to fill out with some sample questions to choose from to share your story in the book. If I use your piece, I will send you a signed copy of the book when it comes out.
This offer is for women, Trans AFAB or AMAB, and nonbinary folk. You don’t need a formal diagnosis; if you are self-diagnosed, I respect that 100% and I would love to share your story.
If you are not in this category, but you know someone who is, please feel free to share this invitation.
I need your stories ASAP, because my deadline is November 1st, 2021. Even if you don’t think you’re a good enough writer, tell me your story anyway. I can help edit it, so don’t worry about the writing, just share your truth.
